SDCCU presents webinars focused on consumer protection as part of SDCCU’s Financial Wellness Wednesdays

SAN DIEGO, Calif., (March 3, 2025) – San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is providing educational resources for the community in support of National Consumer Protection Week, March 2-8. On Wednesday, March 5, SDCCU will present three free webinars aimed at educating the community on how to keep themselves, their loved ones and their finances safe. Webinar topics include Elder Financial Abuse Prevention, Understanding Credit Reports, Preventing Identity Theft & Scams and Current Scams and How to Protect Your Finances.

National Consumer Protection Week encourages the community to learn more about how to keep their finances secure and their consumer rights. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sponsored National Consumer Protection Week since 1998 and provides free resources to protect consumers from the latest scams and other fraudulent crimes including identity theft. If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam, report it to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

“With the prevalence of online daily activity, it’s critical to know how to protect your personal and private information from cybercriminals who are trying to take advantage of your finances,” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU president and CEO. “SDCCU is committed to providing resources and tools so you and your loved ones can be informed and take proactive steps to protect yourself from scammers.”

The National Consumer Protection Week webinars are part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to help provide the community access to free financial wellness information.
