SDCCU Celebrates Local Educators as the Presenting Sponsor of the Cox Presents: Salute to Teachers

SDCCU congratulates San Diego County’s finest educators who were recently celebrated at the 33rd Annual “Cox Presents: Salute to Teachers.” SDCCU was the proud presenting sponsor of the celebration, which is held each year in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education. The show highlighted the work and dedication of the county’s more than 24,000 public school teachers and culminated with the announcement of the following five 2023-2024 San Diego County Teachers of the Year:

• Christina Bass, Painted Rock Elementary, Poway Unified School District
• Courtney Coffin, Orange Glen High School, Escondido Union High School District
• Amanda Ford, Flying Hills School of the Arts (previously Rancho San Diego Elementary), Cajon Valley Union School District
• Wendy Threatt, Felicita Elementary, Escondido Union School District
• Melanie Villanueva, District Office, Sweetwater Union High School District

The five winners will also represent the County of San Diego in the California Teacher of the Year program, where they will compete to go onto the National Teacher of the Year program. This year’s 40 local teacher nominees recognized by their districts as teachers of the year were selected based on student achievement, professional development and community involvement, teaching philosophy and personal style, knowledge of educational issues and trends, promotion and development of the teaching profession, accountability and ability to serve as ambassadors of education.
