Get Ready For Next Year
Although income tax time only comes around once a year, there are things you can do now to prepare for next year's tax season:

Know your tax bracket and your tax rate to
estimate the amount of additional tax you'll pay if your income
increases or the amount you'll save if you can claim a deduction.
Finding your tax bracket involves two steps. First, determine
your taxable income for the relevant year. You can find your
taxable income for a previous year by looking at your tax return.
Then look that number up in the relevant tax rate schedule. |

Decide if you want to take the standard deduction or itemize
your deductions.
° If you plan to itemize, begin
gathering receipts for deductible
items, such as out-of-pocket
medical expenses, childcare
costs, interest on mortgages
and charitable contributions.

be sure to get receipts. If
you plan to donate high value
items such as antiques, paintings,
jewelry or gems, ask the IRS
about appraisals and documentation
required for these items.
